INDEX EVALUATION OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DYNAMICS
Abstract
Socio-economic development is a complex process that must be considered in a multidimensional way. Therefore, for comparative studies, various indicators are used that take this complexity into account. World experience shows the presence of significant asymmetries in the socio-economic development of countries and regions. It is necessary to review the methodology of assessing the level of socio-economic development and expand it by applying the index method of forecasting. To do this, it is necessary to define indices that assess the level of socio-economic development at the global, regional and local levels, to investigate the differences in assessment methodology, to consider the current level and dynamics of socio-economic development, to conduct individual cross-country comparisons. As a result of the comparison, determine the leader countries and the outsider countries in terms of socio-economic development. Various socio-economic systems and their economies suffer different kinds of economic shocks. The lack of a complex methodology for the assessment of a socio-economic system’s resilience to economic shocks is one of the main obstacles to assessing the ability of the system to resist economic upheavals; it also impedes the development of efficient resilience promotion strategies. The search for alternative indicators of development has witnessed the development of a variety of socio-economic indices of development. These indices integrate various social, political, economic, technological aspects of development in measurement. Socio-economic indicators are the basis for understanding the situation in the country and the region, their development. Socio-economic indicators include data on education, gender, poverty, housing, amenities, employment and other economic indicators. These indicators for both the country and the region will help identify the country's and region's strengths and weaknesses, identify opportunities and threats to ensure the progressive development of the economic system, and contribute to the development of a methodical approach to assessing the socio-economic development and post-war recovery of Ukraine.
