PROJECT RISKS IN THE SYSTEM OF ENTERPRISE ECONOMIC RISKS: ECONOMIC NATURE AND SPECIFICITY
Abstract
The article investigates the economic nature and specificity of project risks in the system of economic risks of an enterprise. It is substantiated that in the conditions of accelerated development of technologies, dynamic changes in the market environment, globalization processes and increasing uncertainty, project activities are characterized by an increased level of risk, which actualizes the need to improve modern approaches to project risk management. A conceptual analysis of the definition of “enterprise economic risks” as a supercategory of the definition of project risks is carried out. Classification approaches to enterprise economic risks are generalized and the place of project risks in the system of economic risks is determined. The relationship between the economic categories “enterprise economic risks” and “project risks” is substantiated, which made it possible to determine the place of project risks in the system of economic risks of an enterprise. It has been established that project risks are a special case of economic risks of an enterprise, however, they cannot be considered exclusively as a narrow subcategory of the latter, since their content structure largely repeats the structure of risks of economic activity in general. It is proposed to define project risks as a special case of economic risks of an enterprise as a probabilistic category that reflects uncertainty and the possibility of deviations (both positive and negative) of actual project implementation results from the specified goals, deadlines, budgets and results caused by it. An improved two-level classification of project risks by areas of origin and by the nature of manifestation has been developed, which can serve as an effective tool for project risk management, since it improves the processes of identification and prioritization of project risks, ensuring the improvement of methodological approaches to building an adaptive and sustainable risk management system in project activities.
