HIGHER EDUCATION MARKET OF UKRAINE AND THE EDUCATIONAL SMART-TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
Relevance. A significant decline in the number of applicants due to demographic and socio-political factors, as well as a deterioration in the quality of education, underlines the need for universities to adapt to new conditions. One of the possible solutions to these problems is the active use of smart technologies, which can increase the efficiency of the educational process, and make education more accessible and attractive to students. The following research methods were used in the study: analytical method of scientific knowledge to analyse demographic changes and their impact on the higher education market in Ukraine; statistical method to build summary series of dynamics of the number of applicants to the first year of bachelor's degree and birth rates; comparison method to compare key indicators of Ukrainian universities in terms of academic reputation, research activities, international cooperation, and graduate employment; synthesis method to conclude the main trends. The purpose of this analytical and review study is to analyse the current state of the Ukrainian higher education market, taking into account demographic changes, economic challenges, and the decline in the quality of educational services, as well as to assess the implementation of educational smart technologies that contribute to improving the efficiency of the educational process, ensuring access to education and student engagement. The result of the research is the coverage of the current situation in the Ukrainian higher education market, analysis of the dynamics of the number of applicants to the first year of bachelor's degree in Ukraine over the past three decades, analysis of the main indicators of higher education institutions in Ukraine, in particular, academic reputation, research activity and interest – these factors were studied in conjunction with demographic and socio-political circumstances, which allowed for a more accurate assessment of the likely prospects and long-term consequences on the higher education market in Ukraine. The possibilities of introducing intelligent educational technologies that contribute to increasing the efficiency of the educational process and interactivity of learning are investigated, which will help to better assess future needs and develop strategies for the development of the higher education market in Ukraine.
